But Who Are We?

2017: Where It All Began

Orange Animal was formed in Akron, Ohio in 2017 after Ramsey wrote a series of songs that he, Thurman, Derivan (and Moshe Koval) decided to start performing at venues in Akron and Cleveland.

2018: The First Album

After the release of their debut album in early 2018, Gave It All Away, Orange Animal traveled to play shows in Columbus and Chicago while continuing to build their home audience in Cleveland.

2019: The Second Album

Soon, new songs emerged, leading to the creation of their sophomore album, No Song Sick Hearts in 2019.

With their live shows and album releases, Orange Animal gained recognition and was featured as the Band of the Week in Cleveland Scene Magazine in May 2019. They were also highlighted on WKSU’s Shuffle with Amanda Rabinowitz and received airplay on 91.3 The Summit.

2020-2022: California and Beyond

Throughout 2020 and 2021, Orange Animal continued to write and release music.

In 2021 and 2022, Orange Animal traveled extensively, playing three shows at the world-famous Viper Room in Los Angeles, CA, and another set at El Cid on Sunset Blvd.

The band wrapped up their 2022 with a small road trip down I-77, performing shows in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati.

2023-2024:

In 2023, after a brief pause, Orange Animal returned to the studio with some new faces. From the acclaimed band, The Battle, brothers Ron and Donne Copenhaver, along with Chris Shaheen, joined Ramsey and Derivan to create a new album, Still Frames, which was released on all streaming platforms in early 2024.

Orange Animal played numerous shows in 2024, receiving significant attention for their song, "Hammer in My Hands," which was included in Rolling Stone (ES).

2025:

In 2025, the animal band released the single, "Sweet Heartache," which received consistent airplay on radio stations across the country.

Then in late August, Orange Animal immersed themselves in recording a new five-song EP at Suma Recording Studio, set to be released beginning in Spring, 2026.

Stay tuned for songs from the new album and keep an eye out for upcoming shows in a city near you.
